‘Beyond the Canvas’

A Celebration of The Arts

Thursday, July 17, 2025 | 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Join us for an evening where art transcends the boundaries of the canvas and captivates the creativity of our community.

With a special performance by
the Music Academy of the West from 5:00 –5:30 p.m.

Beyond the Canvas is more than just an art walk; it is an extravaganza celebrating the many mediums of art and the vibrancy of the community. Art isn’t limited to the stroke of a brush or the frame of a canvas and our event will showcase just that. We welcome art admirers and collectors, performing art enthusiasts, and casual strollers to join us for this extraordinary evening!

Cassandria Blackmore Gallery

Meet local artist Cassandria Blackmore and view her luminous shattered glass paintings. Sip on Ysidro Sake Spritzes as founder Monica Epstein transforms the way you sip with good taste.

Caldwell Snyder Gallery

Meet and chat with Bay Area artist Melissa Chandon, whose vibrant and dreamy paintings will be on display for the opening of her exhibition at Caldwell Snyder Gallery. Stay for the pouring of a selection of wine from Folded Hills Winery, accompanied by music on the patio!

BelRose Estate Jewelers

Meet and mingle with contemporary pop artist Wallace Piatt as he displays his bold new works. Sip fine refreshments and raise a glass to a unique art walk experience!


Portico

Meet and watch gallery artists Karl Dempwolf, Dirk Foslien, George Lockwood, and Dan LaVigne demonstrate their talent live!

Karl Dempwolf 

Originally from Germany, Karl Dempwolf is an artist and writer based in Southern California who specialises in unique landscape paintings. Inspired by early California artists such as William Wendt and Charles Reiffel, Dempwolf’s paintings marry the soul of Impressionism with Expressionist design to produce unparalleled compositions.

Dirk Foslien

Influenced by his artist father and teachers, California native Dirk Foslien decided to pursue fine art after studying graphic arts and three-dimensional design he began working as a graphic illustrator and production artist in the aerospace industry at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company.

George Lockwood

George Lockwood is a California native whose deep connection to the outdoors is reflected in his detailed wildlife and landscape paintings. A former wilderness guide in Alaska, George draws from decades of first-hand experience in some of North America's most remote and beautiful places.

Dan LaVigne

Dan LaVigne is a California-based artist whose career spans illustration, graphic design, and fine art. After earning a degree in Illustration from Cal State Long Beach, he found early success with clients such as the Playboy Jazz Festival, Architectural Digest, and KLM Airlines. A pivotal oil painting class with master artist Dan McCaw shifted his focus toward a more expressive, painterly style.

Meet artist Pedro De La Cruz as he paints his masterpieces outside Kathryne Designs. The store is offering 15% off books all week!

Renauds

Join us for a special performance from the Music Academy of the West 5:00 p.m. –5:30 p.m. in front of Renaud’s followed by games with prizes, and refreshments provided by Tilden Cocktails.

Come meet artist Bobbi Bennett as she showcases her Stoked Surfboard artworks, accompanied by light bites and sips!


Find our “Artist’s Corner” at Coast Village Court (located next to Homer, Lily, and Peregrine Gallery) Fashion and Art enthusiasts will be delighted by the presence of jewelry, clothing and leather designers, presenting their unique creations. Enjoy hosted La Leiff Wines and small bites while engaging with these wonderful artists:

Photography by Kim Rierson and an array of paintings by local artist Karen De La Pena will be displayed at Peregrine, along with authentic Labubu bag charms for sale.

Meet and mingle with Peter Horjus, logo designer, illustrator and painter, as he shows his artwork and draws live. Peter will be doing his 5-minute drawings of cars, dogs, people… you name it!

La Lieff Wines will be pouring their vibrant varietals! Sip on refreshments, enjoy small bites, and tunes by Al Vafa as you browse, shop, and chat!

Waterhouse Gallery 

Wyllis Heaton and Ralph Waterhouse demonstrate their talents live. Wyllis Heaton, an award-winning en plein air painter and landscape designer, captures the fleeting beauty of ever-changing natural scenes. Ralph Waterhouse, known for his luminous California landscapes, draws inspiration from the golden light of early mornings and late afternoons.
